Next Gen Leadership Boot Camp

Summary

A two-day life skills and personal development boot camp for 21 students from grades 8, 9 and 10, facilitated by Muhammad Yahya and Taha Khalid, built to unlock confidence, curiosity and character.

Challenge

A pre-program assessment showed students lacked confidence in speaking and expressing themselves, had underdeveloped communication skills, showed little natural curiosity or questioning, and had no prior exposure to structured personal development.

Intervention

Day 1 broke the ice and shifted mindsets: facilitators shared personal growth journeys, every student told a story in Urdu or English, informal dinner conversations built rapport, and growth versus fixed mindset was taught through a simple bowl analogy. Day 2 covered skills, values and tools: a morning exercise and yoga routine, ethics and character, habit formation, leadership as everyday responsibility, entrepreneurship as problem-spotting, emotional intelligence, the SQ3R study method, and a hands-on introduction to AI and ChatGPT as learning tools. Delivery mixed storytelling, group discussion, physical activity, interactive lectures, hands-on assignments and informal observation.

Outcome

Hesitation and silence turned into willing participation, quiet voices into clear communication, and passive listening into initiative-taking. Students demonstrated improved etiquette unprompted at lunch, and left with confidence in self-expression, a growth mindset, ethical awareness, emotional self-control, habit-building routines, entrepreneurial thinking and exposure to modern learning tools. Each student was gifted a book plus a take-home assignment.
